bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 947b294f87 Release: embed the current craft-fonts (Thai, Arabic, Chinese)
Releases pinned craft-fonts at its first commit, with the Japanese fonts
only. The pin moves to its current main, as PdfCraft, LightCraft and
WordCraft have moved theirs: desktop builds embed Noto Sans Thai, Noto
Sans Arabic and Noto Sans CJK SC too (the web build still embeds only
the UI font and fetches Thai and Arabic beside the wasm). Packages
already copy every embedded font's licence.

The Thai loanword test no longer assumes the bundled fonts' widths: it
checks that no line ends inside โปรแกรม, whichever Thai font sets it.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 10f1c56a86 Release prep: 0.9.0 and a Linux riscv64 release build (#1071)
- Version 0.8.0 -> 0.9.0 (cargo xtask version set; Cargo.lock refreshed).
- release.yml: new linux-riscv64 job, ported from GridCraft. Cross-compiles
  riscv64gc-unknown-linux-gnu on ubuntu-24.04 against riscv64 -dev packages
from ports.ubuntu.com (the same set the linux job installs), packages a
tar.gz, and runs vectorcraft-cli --version under qemu-riscv64. The draft
release job now needs it, so its tarball is uploaded and in SHA256SUMS.
- packaging/linux/package.sh: CROSS_ARCH / CROSS_TARGET / CROSS_COMPILE /
  EMULATOR support, as in GridCraft.
- docs/releasing.md: list the riscv64 artifact.

Checked locally: cargo check -p vectorcraft -p vectorcraft-cli --target
riscv64gc-unknown-linux-gnu, cargo fmt --check, actionlint, shellcheck.

BFlatandClaude Opus 5.5 f95e320907 Packaging: Windows MSI gets a setup wizard with version and launch box
Double-clicking the MSI used to flash a progress bar and close, so users couldn't tell it had
installed. It now opens a wizard: Welcome, install folder (remembered across upgrades), Ready,
progress, and a Finish page that says where to find the app with a ticked "Launch VectorCraft"
box. Every page names the full version, pre-release tag included. The wizard art is drawn from
the app icon at package time; msiexec /qn still installs silently.

73bf92b5a9 Release: Flatpak bundles, AppImage zsync updates, README Downloads (#500)
* Release: Flatpak x86_64/aarch64 bundles, AppImage zsync updates, README Downloads

- New `flatpak` matrix job (ubuntu-24.04 and ubuntu-24.04-arm) repackages each Linux tarball
into vectorcraft-<ver>-linux-<arch>.flatpak via packaging/linux/flatpak-bundle.sh and the
new ai.storyteller.vectorcraft.bundle.yml; packaging-lint keeps its runtime and finish-args
identical to the from-source Flathub manifest.
- AppImages embed gh-releases-zsync update information and ship a .zsync beside them; the
  Linux job checks both.
- Jobs that sign nothing (version, linux, flatpak, freebsd, web) leave the `release`
environment, so a branch workflow_dispatch is a dry run; the draft-release job still needs
  the signed macOS/Windows jobs.
- README: a Downloads section listing every build; docs/releasing.md updated.

* Release: read AppImage update info without extract-and-run

With APPIMAGE_EXTRACT_AND_RUN=1 the runtime forwards --appimage-updateinformation to the app,
which then tries to open a window and fails on the headless runner.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 a5963b7c76 Release CI: macOS job on macos-15-xlarge
Custom macOS larger runners in a runner group do not pick up jobs; the
built-in M2 Pro label does. Only release.yml uses it, and the
actions_macos_xl budget caps the monthly spend.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 2bcaf08dbd Release CI: macOS job on the org macos-release runner
The standard macOS runners are shared with all CI and queue for an hour or
more. The macos-release runner (GitHub-hosted M2 Pro) is in a runner group
usable only by release.yml on the release branch, with a monthly spend cap
on the actions_macos_xl SKU.

bflatasticandClaude Opus 5.5 caeecf4b26 M14: Windows 7 build: patch windows-link for that build only, manual CI
- Drop the workspace [patch.crates-io] and restore windows-link's crates.io
source and checksum in Cargo.lock, so every normal build keeps the
  checksum-verified crate. windows7.ps1 now applies vendor/windows-link with
--config, checks that only windows-link's lock entry moved, builds and tests
with --locked, checks the patched crate is the one in use, and restores
  Cargo.lock afterwards.
- windows7.yml runs on demand and weekly instead of on every PR, pins every
action by commit SHA, and leaves the dependency check and host tests to the
script (-Test) so the Cargo arguments live in one place.
- ROADMAP, README, NOTICE and docs: experimental, unsupported, not verified by
  maintainers.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 77159bb08e FreeBSD: the release and package jobs build with craft-fonts, like the other platforms
Since 546a65f every release job checks storytold/craft-fonts out at its pinned commit and
builds with CRAFT_FONTS_DIR and CRAFT_FONTS_REQUIRED=1. The FreeBSD jobs do the same inside
the VM, so FreeBSD packages carry the Japanese fonts and their OFL texts. The package check
now requires each expected file (the font licences included) instead of any one of them.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 546a65f77a Fonts: use craft-fonts as an optional build input; move the Japanese fonts out
Shippori Mincho (assets/fonts, from #145) moves to storytold/craft-fonts. crates/text/build.rs
embeds the fonts of a craft-fonts checkout when CRAFT_FONTS_DIR is set (web: BIZ UDPGothic
Regular only) as vectorcraft_text::CRAFT_FONTS; unset, it is empty and Japanese falls back to the
installed fonts. Document text gets the Japanese faces after the bundled fonts (Mincho first); the
UI adds them at the end of every egui family (BIZ UDPGothic first), before ui_fonts' system-font
discovery. Release and FreeBSD CI builds check craft-fonts out at a pinned commit; packages carry
the fonts' OFL texts.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 ceb6defcf3 Windows on ARM64: release builds, PE header check, install test on ARM64 hardware
Release builds add an arm64 MSI and portable zip, cross-compiled on the x64
runner (signing and WiX as for x64). package.ps1 checks each binary's PE
header before packaging: Machine must match -Arch, the app must be a GUI
program and the CLI a console program. It skips the CLI smoke run when an
ARM64 build can't run on the host. A new Windows ARM64 workflow packages the
ARM64 MSI, installs it on a Windows 11 ARM64 runner, checks both installed
exes are ARM64, runs the CLI, and uninstalls. Ported from printcraft#66.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 7bca89dd15 Windows packaging: Start Menu/Add-Remove icon, no console window, correct description
The MSI Icon id had no .ico/.exe extension, which Windows Installer needs for
advertised shortcuts and ARPPRODUCTICON, so both showed a blank icon. Release
builds of the desktop app are now GUI-subsystem (no console window; the CLI stays
a console program), the shortcut/summary description names what VectorCraft does, and
packaging-lint rejects an Icon id without an extension. Found in printcraft#57.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 980372f6d0 FreeBSD: release package and a packaging check in CI
- packaging/freebsd/package.sh builds vectorcraft and vectorcraft-cli and writes
  vectorcraft-<version>-freebsd-x86_64.tar.gz, a /usr/local-style tree (bin/, the
freedesktop desktop entry, MIME type and metainfo, hicolor icons, licences, NOTICE
  and ASSETS.md). FreeBSD's install(1) has no -D and uname -m says amd64.
- release.yml: a FreeBSD x86_64 job in the same FreeBSD 14.3 VM; the version, date
and SHA reach the VM through `envs:`. The draft release waits for it.
- freebsd.yml: vmactions/freebsd-vm pinned by commit (v1.5.9), git safe.directory for
the copied checkout, CARGO_BUILD_JOBS=4, and a `package` job that runs the script on
PRs touching FreeBSD packaging and on demand.

Brandon ThomasandClaude Opus 5.5 3e323bfa2a Robustness: VectorCraft never crashes — no panics in shipped code
Shipped code no longer unwraps, expects or panics: every one of the 124
unwrap()/expect()/panic!/unreachable! sites outside tests now handles the
failure (Result/Option, ?, let-else, defaults) and reports errors to the user.

- Lints: workspace clippy denies unwrap_used, expect_used, panic, todo,
unimplemented and unreachable; clippy.toml allows them in tests, and
integration tests, examples and testkit opt out explicitly.
- Safety net (vectorcraft_engine::guard): a panic in a top-level command rolls
the document back and returns EngineError::Internal; a panicking tool is
reset; the MCP server answers with an internal error and keeps serving; the
UI frame and each control request are guarded.
- APIs that hid failures now return them: Rendered::to_png/to_jpeg/to_webp
return Result (JPEG/WebP errors used to write empty files),
FontDb::face returns Option, Region::top returns Option.
- Fuzzing: engine/tests/import_fuzz.rs feeds garbage, hostile and mutated SVG
and PDF through import → render → export (30k cases locally, no panics).
- Docs: AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md rule, docs/development.md "Robustness" section,
README pointer and a PR template checklist.
